Tips/Reminders
  • If you would like to deviate from your set schedule or ask for time off, you must speak to a supervisor (Michaelle, or Ruth, Sharon, or Cathy if Michaelle is unavailable) ahead of time. If you receive approval from the supervisor, you are responsible for putting your time off on the erase board.
  • If you work a consecutive 4 hours, you are eligible for a 15 minute break. You must tell a supervisor when you decide to go on break. You can not use your break to arrive late or leave early.
  • While performing a task on a truck of books, always work left to right, top to bottom. As you finish the task on a book, place it back on the truck laying on its spine. With everyone working this way, it provides a consistency that allows us to pick up exactly where another left off if the truck went previously unfinished.
  • One particularly mortifying problem often encountered is tipping a truck of books over, spilling them all. To avoid this, take care while filling and pushing a truck. Arrange the books tightly and in the middle of the shelves of the trucks. If there are not enough books to fill the shelf of a truck, use a bookend, they're here to help. In the case of the metal trucks, do not attempt to move them while books are laying on their spines and always push them sideways; these are the easiest trucks to tip!
  • The lunchroom is available to all employees on break or lunch. Inside is a variety of vending machines as well as refrigerators, microwaves, and an oven. To access the lunchroom, the code for the numerical lock is 312#.
