Bindery Check-in - Discharging Station - Disperse
Physical Description: Cloth bound items with volume information (volume, number, year, etc.) printed on mid-spine. These periodicals have been bound, unpacked, and property stamped. The barcode has been attached.
Notify a Supervisor if you notice the following:
• Map Pockets: Map pockets without inventory slips. Maps without labels. No accompanying materials note appears when you discharge the item.
• A CD/DVD accompanying materials note comes up when discharging an item but there isn’t a CD/DVD pocket at the back of the book.
• The system gives you the option to set something in-transit but there isn’t a location on the call number label to justify an in-transit request.
1. Access MILLENNIUM CIRCULATION
2. On the Circulation Screen, you will see three tabs that read Check Out, Holds, Check-in. Use the mouse to select the Check-in tab.
3. Scan each item (barcode) into MILLENNIUM Circulation (Check-in). As each item is checked in, it should read Houchen Bindery or Houchen Bindery 2 on the screen.
• Branch Library Items (ENGR, GEOL, MATH, JOUR): Set in-transit, do not print a slip. Place on the Gray Truck.
• Remote Storage Items (UMLD, ANNEX): Check-in, do not set in-transit. Place on the Gray Truck.
• After discharging, leave items with the REF, SPEC-MU, SPEC-REF, RARE-REF location on the original truck.
• Holds: Items with holds should be set in-transit if given the option. If not, please contact a supervisor before proceeding. Remember to print a hold slip for hold items and place the item on the gray truck.
4. Flip truck sign to “Dispersing” and wheel the truck to the Dispersing Waiting Area.
Bindery Check-in - Discharging Station - Disperse
Physical Description: Cloth bound items with author/title printed on the spine. The call number will be printed on the spine or the upper left front cover. These monographs (AKA books) have been bound, unpacked, and property stamped. The barcode has been attached.
Notify a Supervisor if you notice the following:

4. At this point, separate items between (500) barcodes and (100) barcodes.
• Items with barcodes that start with (100) should be placed on a truck. Flip truck sign to “Dispersing”. Place truck in the Dispersing Waiting Area.
• Access MILLENNIUM SERIALS CHECK-IN. Items with barcodes that start with (500) are considered new books and should be scanned into the MILLENNIUM Label Queue. Place items scanned into the Label Queue on the New Book Shelves.
Bindery Check-in - Scan Station - Marking Station - Discharging Station - Disperse
Physical Description: The book’s original cover was retained during binding. The original cover will be protected by Mylar, which is a clear plastic. These monographs (AKA books) have been bound, unpacked, and property stamped. The barcode and call number label have been attached.
Notify a Supervisor if you notice the following:
• Map Pockets: Map pockets without inventory slips. Maps without labels. No accompanying materials note appears when you discharge the item.
• A CD/DVD accompanying materials note comes up when discharging an item but there isn’t a CD/DVD pocket at the back of the book.

Marking Station - Discharging Station - Disperse
Physical Description: These are monographs (AKA books) that are new to the collection. They were published as hardbacks. After marking, follow the procedure below:

• A CD/DVD accompanying materials note comes up when discharging an item but there isn’t a CD/DVD pocket at the back of the book.
• The system gives you the option to set something in-transit but there isn’t a location on the call number label to justify an in-transit request.

4. All items with a call number location (expect JUVENILE) should be removed from the truck.
5. Access MILLENNIUM SERIALS CHECK-IN and scan the remaining items into the MILLENNIUM Label Queue. Place the items on the New Book Shelves.
Scanning Station - Marking Station - Discharging Station - Disperse
Physical Description: Remarks can be either monograph (AKA book) or Serial (AKA Periodicals). They will show evidence of old labels or spine printing that has been marked out. Many of the covers will show wear and the books will generally look older. ADVs will be new hardback or paperback items.
Remarks consist of monographs and serials that are not new to the collection but need a new label. ADVs are serials new to the collection, which need labeling for the first time. They are placed together because they receive the same handling throughout.

3. Scan each item (barcode) into MILLENNIUM Circulation (Check-in). Some items will be discharged from the Ellis Book Repair Card. This is normal. Some items will say “In process, clear it?” Say yes in these instances.
• Branch Library Items (ENGR, GEOL, MATH, JOUR): Set in-transit, do not print a slip. Place on the Gray Truck.
• Remote Storage Items (UMLD, ANNEX): Check-in, do not set in-transit. Place on the Gray Truck.
• After discharging, leave items with the REF, SPEC-MU, SPEC-REF, RARE-REF location on the original truck.
• Holds: Items with holds should be set in-transit if given the option. If not, please contact a supervisor before proceeding. Remember to print a hold slip for hold items and place the item on the gray truck.
4. Flip truck sign to “Dispersing” and wheel the truck to the Dispersing Waiting Area.
