Ideas for the Wiki

Page history last edited by feldkampr@... 2 mos ago

The person primarily responsible for adding the information to the wiki will be listed after each item.

Keep in mind that many of these ideas/tasks will be ongoing and will require continuous maintenance.

1. Definitions of book types and book locations. (ex. Acq-Acq means what and why?)

(Michaelle)

See the "Glossary". Additions will continue to be made.

2. Student "First Day" tutorials encompassing all the idiosyncrasies of working in physical processing such as how to load trucks and student rights and responsibilities, etc. (Ruth)

Done. Additions will continue to be made.

3. Expand on the suggestion in number 1: Definitions to include short descriptions of processing such as Cataloging, Acquisition, etc. (Michaelle)

See the "Glossary". Additions will continue to be made.

4. Describe the journey of a monograph (book) through the Division (give the big picture)(Michaelle)

5. Make sure to use consistant wording. Use the same lexicon in the wiki and on the signage in the unit.

6. Design a Change of Policy Request Form.

7. Create a page, along with pictures, that show the appropriate brittle book procedure. How a brittle book looks after processing. Attach the brittle book procedure to the page. The purpose is to train our students and provide an example for circulation and shelving students. Provide pictures of the brittle book plate at front and back of book. Show a book with appropriately affixed grip-tites.

8. A page detailing what not to do such as using post-it-notes, taping notes, paper clipping notes, etc. to books. All loose paper, paper clips, post-it notes, etc. should be removed from the items as soon as possible.
